Turnbuckles

Working as the connection point, the end fittings are screw into the opposite ends of turnbuckles with right hand threaded on one end and left hand threaded on the other end. By turning the body, the tension can be adjusted. A turnbuckle is normally constructed with hook end, jaw end, eye end or combination end of hook+eye+ hook+jaw, eye+jaw.

Hook end 

a hook end is more used for temporary connections because of its convenience to quickly connect and disconnect. But if there is unexpectedly release, you should not use a hook end turnbuckle.

Jaw end 

a jaw end is used to connect with components that can not be opened. The jaw end is structured with a jaw and a bolt that secured by a nut and pin.

Eye end 

an eye end is a closed loop that can be connected to a shackle or quick link.

Sports and entertainment 

Act as a securing point, turnbuckles are used to create tension and reduce slack in the ropes surrounding a wrestling or boxing ring.

Maritime transport 

Hot dip galvanized turnbuckles are commonly used for maritime transport to tension a ship’s lashing and rigging components.

Construction 

During the construction of suspension bridges, large building and highway guardrail cable assemblies,  turnbuckles are often used to provide tension support.

Aviation 

Turnbuckles used in aviation applications are used to provide tension for the aircraft-wings and flight control systems.

If any of below mentioned problems are found, remove the turnbuckle from service

1. Missing or illegible identification

2. Indications of heat damage, including weld spatter or arc strikes

3. Excessive pitting or corrosion

4. Bent, twisted, distorted, stretched, elongated, cracked, or broken load-bearing components

5. Excessive nicks or gouges

6. A 10% reduction of the original or catalog dimension at any point

7. Excessive thread damage or wear

8. Evidence of unauthorized welding or modification

9. Other conditions, including visible damage, that cause doubt as to continued use
