Chain rigging introduction
Chain rigging is one of the commonly used tools, mainly applicable to industries such as metallurgy, mining, ports, and shipbuilding. It is often combined with lifting rings and hooks to form lifting rigging. The lifting chain ring is mainly divided into two methods: welding and assembly.
According to the surface process, it can be divided into galvanized chain and painted chain. The commonly used raw materials are alloy steel and stainless steel. There are two strength grades, S6 and T8, which mainly differ in materials. T8 has a smaller safety factor than S6 and a smaller size than S6. When the space is limited, T8 is generally preferred.
Chains can be combined with different chain rigging accessories according to different connection methods to form different types of chain sling rigging.
Chain rigging is wear-resistant and heat-resistant, with low elasticity. However, it cannot move at high speed during use, which may cause slippage friction and damage the surface of the lifted object.
Application characteristics of lifting chain rigging
Lifting chain rigging is widely used in shipbuilding, equipment manufacturing, storage and transportation of steel structures, and other industries. It has a wide range of applications, high safety factor, small elastic deformation, not easy to twist and deform, easy to store and maintain, and safe and reliable.
In lifting operations, it has the same function as wire ropes, especially in small and medium-tonnage lifting operations, it is more durable and convenient than wire ropes. When binding and lifting, wire ropes are easily rolled into dead bends in situations with small curvature radius, which is very inconvenient to use. In addition, wire ropes are prone to break when encountering sharp edges and corners, which is a significant safety hazard that does not exist in the use of chains.
From the perspective of economic benefits, the price of lifting chain rigging is about 10% higher than that of wire ropes of the same tonnage and form. Still, under normal use, the service life of chain rigging is three times that of wire rope rigging.
